Offered for sale is a plate from the Royal Doulton "Old English Coaching Scenes" series. Produced in the mid 20th century they emanate what might be thought of as more "romantic" times, when life went at a more sedate pace (albeit muddy!). This plate shows a Dickensian type street scene. The coach has arrived at the Red Lion Inn and they are off loading luggage for passengers who have alighted, their journey at an end. Others clamber aboard, their journey just beginning.
